Optima Font

Optima is a humanist sans serif font family by Hermann Zapf. It has the clarity of the sans serif and the grace of the Roman proportions to technically make it more of a serifless roman instead of a true sans. This balance enables Optima to stand out yet fit right in a great range of design settings.
Font Optima has broad, full-bodied capitals, which are attributed to their classical origins, though slight variations exist including the narrowing of the E, F and L. It is typical of Zapf to have slightly top-heavy S with a right-leaning slant, and the M is splayed and the N features serif-like composition. The a and g taking the lowercase position have two stories and support the legibility of Optima as very practical at both body and display use.
It is also quite versatile in terms of spacing: it renders both tight and open line settings well, but it looks best with slightly spaced tracking. Fonts like optima are flexible in nature when pairs with serif as well as sans serif fonts, further increasing its reputation as one of the most adaptable typeface of the 20th century.
The font family consists of six variants, ranging through roman, italic, extra italic, through extra bold and extra black. It includes OpenType features with small caps, ligatures, alternate characters and an extended character set covering most Central and Eastern European languages.
