Brother 1816 by Fernando Díaz and Ignacio Corbo at TipoType marks 200 years since the first sans-serif font appeared. The design blends geometric shapes with humanistic strokes, giving you control over the personality through more than 20 alternate characters. You can stick with pure geometric forms, lean into the humanistic side, or mix both, depending on what your project needs. The humanistic qualities make it readable at smaller sizes, while the geometric backbone brings enough character for display work like headlines and posters.

The family comes with 32 fonts split into two groups: 16 standard weights and 16 printed versions that add texture. Each weight pack includes over 460 characters, including swashes, fractions, ordinals, and both angular and straight edge options. Díaz and Corbo optimized it for web use with hinting instructions, so it holds up across different screen resolutions, whether you’re setting type small or large.
